The obvious answer would be that since stance warriors are usually doing something to evade or block attacks, giving them extra AL vs all damage would be more beneficial than extra AL vs physical, because of the factor of elemental damage. That said though, I don't think warriors are really worried about elemental damage anyway. I conclude it doesn't matter very much at all, and that 85AL is a slightly better choice. I welcome enlightenment on the nuances of stance warriors. Specifically instructions on how to kite them are encouraged. |

I'd go overall with the 85 AL, due to spread over five piece: Head/Chest/Hands/Legs/Feet = 25 regular Extra AL that the others don't. Granted it has more vs physical, but as you progress in the games, casters, especially mesmers become more abundant, so in the long run, you want <imho> a better around AL.
I'm using: HEAD: Platemail helm Chest: Platemail Chest Hands: Knights Legs: Gladiators Feet: Knights I also offhand with "OHNO!" no shield. I instead use a 12+energy req 8 healing prayers ankh so I can have me some mana. 34 to be exact. Lets me pretty much cast whatever =) Also, in each of the pieces is a rune <in the feet is a sup tactics, the rest consists of a major vigor chest, a swords helm, absorp leggings, strength hands, and I wield a Max Dmg Sword, customized with 15>50 customized cruel flamberge. In my honest opinion, I hardly ever die, so eh. It's up to you. |

I recommend not mixing armor!! But then again its ur call!! I read something in here about not mixing armors sets, of various types!!
85al +10 vs physical is ideal for a stances tank! i use 85 platemail for my warrior! with major vigor & major absorption! that will be all you'll need!! trust me! |

I'm Aware of what I said. I didn't mean +25 AL like that, but overall, each piece has a higher defense rating. YES, I'm also aware mesmer spells all ignore armor, thats why I played getting 80 or 85 AL armor off as a joke. You misread my sarcasm. Just to let you know, I've been a tank all my game career, I know what I'm talkin bout =) --The Shim |

Stance tank? Gladiator's with Knight's Boots. Gladiator has the best physical, gives you more Energy for stances in case, and the Knight's gives an additional -2. If you're up against a lot of elemental damage you could go with Platemail instead, but 7 energy > 5 AL. With stances you'll be avoiding attacks most of the time anyway.
